The Entrepreneurs Guide To ChatGPT: For Beginners
Over the last few months, Chat GPT has been a rising technology tool for busy entrepreneurs and creatives looking for organization and research help. It’s been proven that Chat GPT can be used to make your life and business easier but what I’ve found is that many entrepreneurs are still unsure of how to use ChatGPT in general, let alone how to use it to enhance their lives.
We know it can write and create things for us, but what I encourage entrepreneurs to use it for is to help you think, organize, and complete tasks in five seconds that would normally take you five hours. Once you use it once or twice and get a glimpse of how it can make arduous tasks efficient, you’ll start to get ideas for how else you can use it. Until then, I’ve left you a little beginners guide below with 5 ways entrepreneurs can use ChatGPT for their business.
Idea brainstorming
Think about your passions, industry trends, or common pain points you’ve noticed. You can ask ChatGPT to generate or refine your ideas.
Here are a few prompts to get you started:
- “Can you suggest 3 creative marketing ideas for promoting [specific product/service]?”
- “Can you suggest blog topics related to [industry/niche]?”
- “What are some strategies to build a loyal community around [topic/product]?”
Organizing Content Ideas
You can use ChatGPT to organize content ideas by focusing on who you are and what you want to say to your audience. And in the case that you’re not really sure what to say, you can use ChatGPT to get you started as well.
Here are a few prompts to generate blog topics, podcast themes, or video ideas to keep your audience engaged.
- “I want to create content for my [business type]. Can you suggest 10 blog topics that would interest [target audience]?”
- “I have three videos talking about why I started my business, can you tell me how to turn this into a week of content on [insert platform]”
- Based on the attached document [upload document], can you create 3 social media post ideas?
Writing Social media strategy and posts
Focus on your target audience and the tone of voice you want to project. Provide ChatGPT with details about your offerings and goals. Create engaging captions and content for social media platforms to connect with your audience.
Here are a few prompts:
- “I own a [type of business]. Can you write 5 Instagram captions that are fun and engaging to promote my [specific product/service]?”
- “Write a catchy Instagram caption for a [specific product/service] that highlights its main benefit and includes a call to action.”
- “Suggest 10 hashtags for a post promoting [specific product/service] targeted at [audience].”
Crafting emails and email drafts and templates
You can use Chat GPT to outline your email goals (e.g., promote a product, invite to an event), draft a response to a customer inquiry, or draft emails to connect with potential customers or nurture existing leads.
Here are a few prompts:
- “I want to send an email to [type of audience] introducing my _____. Can you help me write a professional yet friendly email with a clear call to action?”
- “A customer emailed me asking about the shipping process for [specific product]. Can you help me draft a polite and clear response?”
- “Can you give me 3 email templates to address [insert pain point or need].
Create a Schedule or Workflow for your home + business
Focuses on planning just one day’s tasks instead of an entire workflow. Help structure a daily task list for better focus.
Here are a few prompts:
- “I have [specific tasks] to complete today. Can you organize them into a priority list and suggest a time breakdown?”
- “Can you help me create a weekly time-blocking schedule that balances my business tasks, family responsibilities, and personal self-care?” [Be sure to list the specific tasks you need to get done: do laundry, do kid dropoff, have 3 meetings, go to the gym, etc.]”
- “Can you create a business workflow that uses automation and efficiencies to market my business, retain customers, and manage a team?”
How to Create Your Own List of Tasks
In the case that you want to spend some time creating your own list of ways ChatGPT can help you, I’ve provided a few tips below. This part will take you a few minutes to do but it’s worth the time it takes to make your life easier.
- Identify Repetitive or Time-Consuming Tasks
Write down daily or weekly tasks that feel routine or overwhelming, such as content creation or email drafting. - Focus on Idea Generation
Think about areas where you need inspiration, whether it’s business strategies, product development, or marketing ideas. - Pinpoint Learning Needs
If you’re navigating unfamiliar territory, use ChatGPT to teach you about specific concepts (e.g., “Explain SEO to me like I’m a beginner.”). - Consider Your Customer Journey
Outline the steps your customers take to find and engage with your business. Use ChatGPT to optimize communication at each stage (e.g., “Create a thank-you email for new customers.”). - Ask “What If” Questions
Let curiosity guide you! For example: “What if I want to expand my business to [new market]? What should I consider?
Remember to start small and give yourself time to play around with the tool! If you ever need a little help thinking through these strategies for your business, I’m happy to help.
